OKX serves more than 100 countries and regions, but some can’t use it at all and others get only some features. Before you sign up, check whether your country of residence is covered.
It depends on where you live, not your passport
OKX decides whether you can use it based on the country or region where you actually live, not the nationality on your passport. A Chinese citizen living in Singapore follows Singapore’s rules; living in the US, the US rules apply.
Using a VPN, proxy or someone else’s address to fake your location breaks the OKX user agreement. If detected, the account can be restricted or frozen and withdrawing your assets gets very difficult. We don’t provide any way around regional restrictions.

Is OKX available in the US?
The OKX global site doesn’t serve US residents, including those in US territories such as Puerto Rico and Guam. After its 2025 settlement with the US Department of Justice, OKX set up a separately licensed US platform. US residents can only use that platform, whose coins, features and promotions differ from the global site, and its referral rules may differ too.
International students and workers living in the US are treated as US residents.
How expats and students abroad sign up and verify

Moving home or to another country: what happens to your account?
When your country of residence changes, update your address as OKX requires. If you move to a restricted region, OKX usually notifies you and gives a deadline, during which you can withdraw your assets. Don’t hide where you really live to keep using the account.
A note for mainland China residents: mainland China treats crypto-related business as illegal financial activity, and personal crypto investments are not protected by law there.

01Can I sign up for OKX abroad with a foreign passport?
It depends on where you live. If your country of residence is supported, you can verify with your passport; some regions also need proof of address.
02Is OKX available in Hong Kong?
The OKX global site doesn’t currently serve Hong Kong users; they need a platform licensed in Hong Kong.
03Will my account be closed if I travel to a restricted country?
A short trip usually isn’t a problem, but don’t use OKX for long periods from a restricted region or fake your address. OKX’s rules are final.
04Can I trade futures on OKX in the UK?
Retail users in the UK can’t use derivatives products; spot and other features work normally.
05Does this referral code work on the OKX US platform?
The US platform is a separate entity, so its promotions and referral rules are whatever its own pages say. Our code applies to the OKX global site.
